Family History Research includes the stories and records of our ancestors' lives. As we research our family's histories and cultures, we feel joy, connection, and unity. These RootsTech Research Lessons will help you develop and refine your beginning, intermediate, or advanced researcher skills. To help maintain accuracy, careful and thorough effort should be taken when researching and documenting.
Family history research is ideally centered around the Genealogical Proof Standard (GPS), which consists of:
- Reasonably exhaustive research
- Complete and accurate source citations
- Thorough analysis and correlation of the collected information
- Resolution of any conflicting evidence
- Soundly written conclusion based on the strongest evidence
